About us
We are a married couple from Copenhagen, Flemming (64) and Isabel (57).
We have sailed keelboats for many years. In 2009, we took four months off the calendar and sailed a newly purchased Salona 37 home to Denmark from Split in Croatia. On the trip, we had our two sons, aged 5 and 7, with us. After that trip, we fell in love with the idea of sailing on a long trip and living on a ship - and the dream of living on a ship slowly took shape.
We researched for several years for the good ship to live on in warmer climates. Again and again we came across catamarans as the best solution to meet the needs we had. The catamaran offers plenty of space, comfortable sailing in most weather, the possibility of having many people on board, while still being private. We can be self-sufficient with water and electricity. And for blue water sailing, they are perfect for anchoring on small islands and remote beaches. On ocean passages, they are stable, and there is plenty of room for e.g. supplies. And last but not least, we would be able to do what we had dreamed of for many years: Sailing with and sharing good sailing experiences with others.
We would like to give our sailing crew the best experience of the sea, of catamaran sailing, of delicious food with local ingredients - and enough space to both be together, but also to be able to be private, because there is so much space on the ship. And do it in some of the world's most beautiful destinations.
The approach has been long. We have educated ourselves, most recently with Yacht Masters 1st Class, we have downsized our home and sold our keelboat. We have sailed with different crews and guests for two seasons on catamarans to see if it was the right thing for us.
All of this has resulted in us deciding on Fountaine Pajot's new Aura 51 with room for up to six extra persons in three luxury cabins with private bath and toilet.
We have always enjoyed cooking. We always ensure that the food and drinks on board are adapted to our crew's needs andwishes. As far as possible, we incorporate local ingredients into the food we make.
